If you go way back in history (we’re talking the 1800s), New Lenox has been known by a few different names, starting with VanHorne Point, then Tracey, before they finally settled on New Lenox.- The nickname of New Lenox is “Home of Proud Americans.”
- Fun things to do around New Lenox include catching a show at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre or Rialto Square Theater, and NASCAR races at the Chicagoland Speedway, to name a few.
- One of New Lenox’s most prominent citizens was H.N. Higinbotham – back in the day, he ran in the same circles as other notable Chicagoans like George Pullman, Marshall Field, and the Palmers.
- The Village of New Lenox was created on October 4, 1946… and they’ve been waiting for Lou Malnati’s for 69 years, 4 months, and 11 days!
